About This Adventure

Embark on a captivating 3-hour tour of Dingle, exploring its rich history and stunning landscapes. Visit ancient sites, including Ogham stones and Gallarus Oratory, while enjoying breathtaking views from Slea Head. Experience a unique moment by holding a pet lamb, making this journey both educational and memorable.

Duration: 3 hours

At the beginning of the tour we will explain the history of Dingle town taking in views of Eask tower and Hussey's Folly, two stone towers constructed on Dingle harbour. We head west along the road to Burnham, the home of the Rice family, Lord Ventry and now an all Irish speaking girls boarding school, we will visit the Ogham stones which were relocated here by Lord Ventry. Leaving Burnham we head west to Ventry's golden strand, Ventry translated into Irish is Ceann Trá. We continue on to Dunbeg Fort and the famine cottage on the coast above Dingle Bay, here you will see, where the early settlers on the Dingle Peninsula lived and the houses of famine times. You also get a chance to hold and feed a pet lamb. Then onto Slea head the most westerly point of Europe, where you have great views of the Blasket Islands and Coumeenole Beach, where Ryan's daughter was filmed. Continuing on from Slea Head to Dún Chaoin and Clogher head, sites that were used in films including Ryan's Daughter, Far and Away and Star Wars. We then pass through the Gaeltacht village of Ballyferriter, heading to the early Christian sites of Gallarus oratory. Enjoy history with a laugh…
