These private classes are suitable for adults and children of all abilities. Classes are 45 minutes long and take place by the Kinsale Road Roundabout in Cork. Bikes can be supplied if required. Build confidence and have fun learning in a safe environment!
We take the pedals off a normal bike to turn it into a balance bike and get the learner gliding or ‘scooting’ (sitting on the bike and pushing with their feet) on the bike. This lets the learner build balance and confidence while mastering steering and braking. When the learner is gliding comfortably, we introduce the pedals. At this point, many people cycle away! Most (but not all...) learn to cycle after 2-3 sessions.
We have experience teaching people with a variety of learning difficulties and balance issues e.g. autism, dyspraxia, Down's Syndrome. These classes are open to all, including the many people who have just never learnt to cycle!
Begin on quiet roads or parks with minimal traffic to build confidence.
Safety first: a helmet reduces the risk of injury significantly during early rides.
Focus on balance before pedaling to accelerate learning and improve stability.
Frequent, brief practice helps retain skills without overwhelming the learner.
