Mystery Valley Sunset Photo Tour Details:

  • This photography tour explores ancient ruins, petroglyphs, and pictographs left behind by Anasazi people who lived in the area 800 plus years ago.

  • There are stunning views as well. The tour will end with a visit to Tear Drop Arch. Note: Tear Drop Arch does not light up in the months of December-February.

  • The Anasazi Indians lived throughout this area before they disappeared. The beautiful petroglyphs and pictographs they left are well preserved. Many of their dwellings are still intact, and we visit these sites on our tours.

  • In 1938, John Ford and John Wayne made “Stagecoach,” the movie that first brought Monument Valley to the attention of the film and tourist industries. Since then, Monument Valley has been a favorite for photographers and filmmakers.

Things to Remember

  • We operate on daylight savings time. Utah time, not Arizona time.
  • We start all of our tours from The View Hotel lobby in Monument Valley.
  • We have no set time for our tours. You get to set the time for your tour.
  • Highway 163 runs north and south through Monument Valley. 1/4 mile north of Arizona, Utah state line there is an intersection. Turn East. Go 4 miles and you are at the Visitor's Center.

There is a $5.00 per person Entrance Fee. This is a Navajo Tribal park, not a National Park. In the parking lot there is an information booth. At the booth ask for Carlos Phillips or Carl Phillips. We work together.
