About This Adventure

A great way to see Kinsale town and harbour area

What we will do

The tour starts in Charles Fort, a 17th century star-shaped fort completed in 1682 during the reign of King Charles II. There are stunning views over Kinsale harbour and our route for the next few hours. We get you set up on your bikes and then head straight out to see Charles Fort, a large 17th century star shaped fort.

In town, we can stop to see the Giant's Cottage, home to Patrick Cotter-O’Brien (1760-1806), ‘The Giant of Kinsale’ and other local landmarks such as St Multose Church, the oldest building in the town.

Highlights

Next, we take a high level loop road with amazing views over the town before continuing around the harbour to Sandycove, a quiet bay. Sandycove Island protects this lovely bay and is home to wild goats - see if you can spot one! Or maybe we'll be able to pick out one of the many local swimmers who swim around the island.

We'll cycle back to town and point you in the right direction for a quick pint or a delicious seafood dinner.

What to expect

You'll spend approx. 1.5-2hrs cycling on hilly terrain. There are some short but steep uphills so, to enjoy the tour to the fullest, you have the option to book an electric bike or else have a reasonably good level of fitness. Mountain bikes are provided with helmet and high vis vest. Bottled water is also supplied. The exact route varies depending on your fitness/interests and the pace is relaxed unless you desire otherwise! We stop at a local café for a tea/coffee or cold drink (included in the price) at the end of the tour. As the tour follows the coast, the weather can be breezy so pack a light raincoat and wearing layered clothing is advised. Shades/sunglasses are also recommended as are comfortable shoes suitable for cycling.

What's included?

Tour 2-2.5 hours includes bike rental, guide, water on bike and tea/coffee during stop. Min. 2 people required. Tours are run at a relaxed pace. Contact us for group rates!
