##About This class will cover basic information about kayaks, equipment, and topics related to kayak safety. Then we'll move to the water where instruction will include basic rescue skills, a variety of paddle strokes, boat maneuvering, and considerations when planning a kayak trip.
A wetsuit/drysuit is required. All other equipment (kayaks, paddles, life jackets, etc) will be provided.
Class meets on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at the Toledo Community Pool in Toledo, Oregon from 10 AM until 12 PM. Then we'll move to Olalla Reservoir from 1 PM until 3PM.
On Saturday, April 30, 2022 we'll meet from 10 AM until 2 PM at the Oregon Boating Foundation boathouse located at Port Dock 7 in Newport, Oregon.
Always wear a well-fitted PFD during your kayaking session to stay safe on the water.
Coastal weather can change quickly; confirm conditions are safe before heading out.
Focus on mastering forward, reverse, and sweep strokes as these control your kayak effectively.
