About This Adventure

Join an exhilarating course that combines safety and skill-building for river kayaking, running, and surfing. Experience hands-on instruction in inflatable kayaks, mastering paddling techniques, boat control, and river currents. Enjoy a scenic float back to Gypsy Camp & Canoe, making unforgettable memories on the water.

COURSE OUTLINE:

Course focusing on safety and skills for Rivering, Running and Surfing. Course includes Inflatable Kayak Rental, Paddle, PFD, Helmet

  • Safety / Rescue skills
  • Paddling strokes
  • Boat Control
  • Reading and understanding river currents
  • Kayak maneuvers in current
  • Surfing

Dress to swim with closed toe water shoes (tennis shoes are okay). You will be provided an inflatable kayak for class use, along with life jacket, paddle and helmet. Please bring a lunch, snacks and water to stay hydrated.

Class will start and finish at Gypsy Camp & Canoe. 9 am Shuttle to SSKP for class/instruction, and then you will float back down to Gypsy Camp & Canoe at the end of the day.

Adventure Tips

Wear a Proper Personal Flotation Device

Always wear a Coast Guard-approved life jacket during the class to stay safe on river currents.

Arrive Hydrated and Energized

Bring plenty of water and a snack, as paddling can be physically engaging especially under the sun.
