An arctic adventure with the huskies!

About

The guide will pick guests up from Kakslauttanen and provide thermal outfits at the husky farm. Then it is time to meet the friendly dogs who are eagerly waiting in front of the sledges. Husky dogs love running and can’t wait to get going! The guide will provide instructions on how to stop, turn and drive the husky sledge pulled by several dogs. The sled is for two people unless you wish to have your sled only for yourself (for an extra cost). The other person is seated in the sleigh, the other is standing and driving in the back, you can swap drivers halfway. You will enjoy riding in the wintery forest as much as the dogs! After arriving at the farm and thanking your dogs for the adventure together it’s time for a hot drink and some husky stories.
Duration of the program: 4 hrs. (from pick-up to return), ride time approx. 2 hours.

Note: In order to drive the sledge, you need to weigh min. 45-50kg. You are not allowed to drive under the influence of alcohol, according to Finnish law. No Applicable for Infants, Guest with disabilities and Pregnant woman! For additional information, kindly reach us at hotel@kakslauttanen.fi

Please note

• The winter temperatures can vary anywhere between 0°C and -40°C (on average it's -14°C)
• In the winter the most important things is to dress up in layers:
• First of all you need good thermal long underwear, then another layer of something warm like wool or fleece
• On the top you will need good garment, which should preferably be water and wind proof
• The most important thing to remember is that you should be totally covered from head to toes
• You can also rent winter outwear from the hotel
• Don’t forget to bring your smile :)
