With access to 45 miles of scenic carriage roads and 9 well-equipped campsites, this unique adventure offers a perfect blend of nature and equestrian enjoyment. Enjoy the freedom to care for your horse in a stunning setting.
13 Night Stall or Stall and Campsite Reservation
Board your horse at Wildwood Stables in Acadia National Park. There are 3 barns with a total of 34 stalls. Water spigots at each barn with a bathing area for horses. Ride and drive over 45 miles of carriage roads. Choose one of 9 campsites complete with RV hookups (power, water, electricity).
Board is self-care. Bring what you need to care for your horse. There are wheelbarrows, manure forks, rakes and brooms available for your use. Hay and shavings are available for purchase on site.
Always use designated hitching posts and check that your horse is securely tied to prevent accidents.
Water sources can be limited on some trails, so carry enough water to keep both you and your horse hydrated.
Bar Harbor’s weather can change quickly; wearing layered clothing helps you adapt comfortably throughout the day.
Keep a safe distance from local wildlife and pack out all trash to preserve the natural environment.
Acadia’s carriage roads were originally built in the early 1900s by the Rockefeller family to promote horseback riding and carriage travel in the park.
