As featured on HGTV's " If Walls Could Talk", and dubbed "A must see" by the Colonial Williamsburg Foundation and SCAD VAC Architectural Committee, come experience the Sorrel Weed House & Carriage House Museum. This Grand Savannah home will intrigue and entice you with her rich and extraordinary atmosphere of southern history, fine antiques, and outstanding architecture.
Opened to the public in January 1940 by the Society for the Preservation of Savannah Landmarks, which later became the Historic Savannah Foundation, the Sorrel-Weed Mansion was the first home in the State of Georgia to be designated a State landmark.
On this Guided Historic and Architectural House Tour, you may:
• Take in the breathtaking architecture of this 1838 Greek Revival Mansion • See period antiques specific to the 1840s. • Hear the history of the Francis Sorrel family, and his son General Moxley Sorrel, the youngest brigadier general in the confederacy. . Learn about other previous owners including Henry D. Weed and his family as well as the Cohens who opened up the Lady Jane Dress Shop
This is not a ghost tour and will not cover the deaths or dark history of the property. Guests that partake in both the historical and ghost tours will receive a discount on their ticket purchase!
Sorrel Weed House reserves the right to refuse entry at any point before or during event, without refund, to unduly intoxicated persons as determined by staff of Sorrel Weed House for the safety of the guests and historical property.
Ticket sales go towards the restoration process and preservation of the home. The 3rd floor (bedrooms) will hopefully be completed in 2026. On behalf of all staff, thank you for your patronage!

• Museum Rules: No food or drink allowed inside. No sitting on, laying on or touching any of the furniture & antiques. No running, jumping or yelling. Photos allowed. Please maintain respect for the historical integrity of the property during your visit. • Arrival: Check-In process begins 15 minutes prior to tour start time. It is recommended to arrive 5-10 minutes early as tour will depart promptly on time. • Address: 6 W Harris St. Savannah, GA 31401 on Madison Square. Use the side entrance on Bull St to access the courtyard area. • No restrooms. There is a nearby hotel that will be open. • Dress accordingly. Entire property is NOT temperature controlled. Wear comfortable shoes. Loose, expensive, and dangly articles such as earrings, necklaces, and keys are recommended to be removed and put somewhere safe.
