Q: Is this suitable for beginner hikers? A: Yes, if you’re comfortable walking 9 – 10 km with some uneven terrain and a moderate elevation gain. Good footwear is essential.
Q: Is this a walk in remote nature? A: No, we will be walking on a pilgrimage route between two towns. While there will be plenty of elements, this segment contains many urban segments – albeite in the countryside – so it is not a remote, wilderness experience and rather a classical pilgrimage trail (think: Camino de Santiago).
Q: Can I swim in Lake Albano? A: You’ll have time to cool your feet and, weather permitting, take a refreshing dip. Bring swimwear and a towel if you plan to swim. Note that the swim will be at the end of the experience, and is not part of this hike. Swimming in the lake can be dangerous and will be at your own risk. It might not be allowed in certain times of the year and only in certain parts of the lake.
Q: How do I get back to Rome? A: From Castel Gandolfo station, take the regional train to Roma Termini. There are regular trains. Your guide will point you in the right direction.
Q: What if the date I want isn’t available? A: Private tours are always available on request. Email info@natureofsal.com and we’ll arrange a custom date.
Q: What happens in case of bad weather? A: The route or timing may be adjusted for safety. If conditions are unsuitable, we’ll contact you with alternatives.
