About Heritage Farm Museum & Village
Heritage Farm Museum & Village preserves and interprets Appalachian farm life through a recreated 19th-century village, living-history museums, artisan demonstrations and family-friendly outdoor adventures. Located on a scenic ridgeline, the site combines hands-on animal care, seasonal festivals, guided museum tours and high-adrenaline attractions such as ziplines and aerial rope courses. Visitors can explore historic buildings, meet diverse farm animals, and learn traditional crafts from experienced interpreters. Programming ranges from general admission access to special events—Fall Festival, Spring Festival, Summer Ice Cream Festival—and skill-focused classes including blacksmith basics. Adventure offerings include TalithaKoum, a 40-foot aerial adventure course with roughly thirty elements and a free-fall feature; Wilder’s Zip-n-Climb, a 15-foot challenge course; and RedTail Racers, dual 1,100-foot ziplines that traverse the valley at speeds up to forty miles per hour. Family programs feature Barnyard Basics animal sessions, single-day sensory events for young children, and multi-day youth experiences such as Critter Camp. The museum also runs guided 90-minute tours led by local historians and a downhill mountain biking experience across ten named trails. Staff prioritize safety, education and authentic Appalachian storytelling, combining trained guides, certified adventure staff and hands-on learning. Heritage Farm’s mix of museum interpretation, seasonal festivals, artisan demos, animal care and outdoor adventure makes it an accessible destination for multigenerational groups, school trips and weekend visitors seeking both cultural enrichment and outdoor excitement. On-site amenities include picnic areas, seasonal concessions, and event parking to support comfortable family visits year-round. Advance online reservations are encouraged for camps and adventure courses today.
