About This Adventure

Dive into the captivating world of flameworking in this hands-on workshop! Learn to safely manipulate molten glass and create your own unique pieces, from pendants to drink stirrers. With expert guidance and all materials provided, you'll leave with beautiful handmade glass art and a newfound passion for this enchanting craft.

In this introduction to flamework on a table-top torch, you will learn basic lampworking skills as you create your own small collection of glass beads.

Your three-hour class will begin with a discussion of the different kinds of glass (soft glass, borosilicate) that can be worked on the torch as well as an introduction to torch safety --- and then the fun begins!

Your instructor will cover:

  • how to light the torch
  • the proper use of bead release
  • employing mandrels to form hollow beads
  • how to make the most of hand tools including marvers, tweezers, claw grabbers, and mandrels
  • decorative and texturing techniques such as dots and stringers, and texture/sculpting

You will melt and layer colored rods of glass to create 2-5 beads during this workshop.
