About the West Cape

  • Captain Ben welcomes you aboard his new 33ft Bounty Motor Yacht the West Cape for the upcoming season! This new boat has twin 370 hp Yanmar diesels and cruise up to 24 kts. The spacious new boat will offer added comfort, speed and an excellent experience, Capt. Ben is extremely knowledgeable about all aspects of fishing out of Homer. Acting as captain and deckhand he provides individualized attention to each guest on board. Ben was 2010’s Homer Jackpot Derby Winning Captain!

Halibut Fishing

  • Your limit is 2 halibut per person per day (4 for the season), one of any size and the other 28” or smaller.
  • Lower Cook Inlet and Kachemak Bay produces halibut of all sizes.
  • Extremely rare that anyone fishing does not get their limit of 2 halibut.
  • Typical fish run in the 15-40 lb range but we all have the photos to prove what can really be ready to bite your hook at any given time…so be prepared!

What to Bring

Food, drinks, warm clothing and rain gear. Alaska sport fishing licenses are required for anyone 16 years and older and are available at our NORTH COUNTRY CHARTERS office or online!
