Guatemala is owner/founder Ryan Croteau's secret surf zone that he has been exploring since 2012. Now he is planning a 6 day, 5- night retreat to this epic country for a VIP limited experience! This trip has a maximum of 14 guests. If you have surfed with Ryan before than you know you can trust his judgment on where to score waves. Ryan has visited Guatemala many times and has made amazing connections. Our Guatemalan contacts have a surf hotel, opened the first surf shop in the country, and are the first ones to pioneer surf tourism by starting a surf guiding & surf school business like we do here in California. The CSE team has teamed up with them to create another epic surf experience for our loyal clients who want to take their surfing to the next level under Ryan’s guidance and energy. Ryan chose Guatemala for the first-ever CSXcursion for its uncrowded lineups, friendly people, warm water, and variety of waves from beginner to advanced. It will be a trip of a lifetime that you will not want to miss.
Morning sessions often offer the cleanest waves and lightest winds, so plan to hit the water early to take full advantage.
Protect both your skin and the marine environment by using biodegradable, reef-safe sunscreen during all water activities.
Guatemala’s tropical climate can dehydrate you quickly; carry water and drink frequently to maintain energy levels on the waves.
Be mindful of local surfers and surf culture by observing lineup rules and sharing waves respectfully to foster a positive atmosphere.
Guatemala’s Pacific coast has a rich history of surfing rooted in indigenous fishing cultures and was among the first areas in Central America to develop organized surf tourism.
Locally led initiatives focus on reef preservation and community engagement to maintain the health of marine ecosystems and support sustainable tourism growth.
Choose a surfboard suited for varied wave sizes to maximize time on the water.
