Ride Route

Part 1: Cascade Locks and Stevenson. Take advantage of the cool morning air to ride into town and enjoy lunch at Gorges Beer Co., Thunder Island Brewing or another local favorite. You'll start on one of the quietest, most scenic sections of the Historic Columbia River Highway on your way to Cascade Locks, where you can stop for food, explore Marine Park, or continue across the magnificent Bridge of the Gods to visit Stevenson, Washington.

  • Note: If you'd prefer to spend more time exploring and a little less time riding, we recommend turning around at Bridge of the Gods and skipping the ride to Stevenson. This will reduce the total distance by 8 miles and give you more time for the afternoon ride to the waterfalls.

Part 2: Starvation Creek State Park and Viento State Park. Once you return to Wyeth, we'll swap in a fresh battery to make sure you have plenty of juice for this 12-mile roundtrip ride along the car-free Historic Highway State Trail. Perfect for hot summer days, this section of the route takes you past a series of spectacular waterfalls en route to one of the most scenic swimming holes in the Gorge at Viento State Park.

Why you'll love it

Ride across the Bridge of the Gods. The grated bridge deck allows you to see the Columbia River rushing beneath you — or you can keep your eyes up to enjoy views of Thunder Island and the Gorge.

Take your time exploring. This six-hour tour offers plenty of time to go shopping in town, take a hike off the beaten path, relax on the waterfront, and make the most of your time in the Gorge.

Get a taste of Stevenson and Cascade Locks. Enjoy a wide range of edible delights during your stops in Stevenson and Cascade Locks, including at Gorges Beer, Thunder Island Brewing, Eastwind Drive-In, Buddy's Arcade, Brigham Fish Market, Tacos Pepe, Big River Grill, Walking Man Brewing and more.

Experience the thrill of a Lectric e-bike. Our friendly and knowledgeable staff will be waiting at the trailhead when you arrive, ready to show you how to operate your e-bike and help make sure you're comfortable before departing. All guests will receive either a Lectric XP 3.0 or a Lectric XPedition depending on their height and weight.

Rider Requirements

Height and weight: The minimum rider height for our standard e-bikes is 4 feet 11 inches, and the weight limit is 300 pounds. If anyone in your group does not meet these requirements, please email info@bikethegorge.org before making a reservation and we'll do our best to find them a suitable e-bike.

Age: By state law, participants must be at least 16 years old to ride electric bikes.

Experience: Prior experience riding an e-bike is recommended for this tour, as you'll be spending a lot of time in the saddle and sharing the road with car traffic for parts of the ride.

Use Your E-Bike’s Pedal Assist Wisely

Maximize battery life by modulating pedal assist, switching to throttle sparingly on climbs or headwinds.
