About

Gdansk is Poland’s principal port, situated on the Baltic coast. Back in the medieval times, it was a member of the Hanseatic League. The city has a complex, yet fascinating history – this is where the famous Polish labour union “Solidarnosc” (Solidarity) was born. You will be charmed by outstanding and well-preserved renaissance architecture as well as narrow streets full of atmospheric shops with handmade amber jewellery. The tour programme includes the Main City (Głowne Miasto) area. You will pass the Coal Market (Targ Węglowy), where you will see the Museum of Amber. Richly decorated Golden Gate will lead you to the Long Market from which you will head to the Green Gate. The Artus Court, a former meeting place of merchants and a centre of social life, whose hayday falls into the 16th and 17th century will be your next stop. You will try to spot a colorful Dutch House (Dom Holenderski) and then have a break by the Neptun’s Fountain. Last but not least, you will visit the Basilica of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the largest brick church in the world!

This is partially self-guided tour which starts in Warsaw.
