The Tutka Bay Express leaves Homer with our captain at the scheduled departure time. While under power to our dock, guests are briefed on safety and kayak instruction. Whale spotting and other creatures are often spotted in the Katchemak bay ecosystem on our 25-minute ride to our dock in Tutka Bay.
Once we arrive at our dock, clients will unload and don appropriate gear for sea kayaking. Our vessel will then depart for our approx. 7-hour kayak adventure. Kayakers have the opportunity to kayak to hike, dig for clams and view fish depending on the time of year and weather. The kayakers and vessel will return to our dock promptly at the scheduled return time where we will return all guests back to the Homer dock.
Alaskan weather can change quickly even in summer, so dress in layers and bring waterproof gear to stay comfortable.
Even in cooler temperatures, sun reflection off the water can cause sunburn, so protect your skin and eyes.
This full-day adventure requires energy, so carry water and high-energy snacks to keep fueled throughout the trip.
