We know autumn has arrived, when temperatures drop, leaves fall and mushrooms pop up in unexpected places. This year, we thought we'd celebrate this special time of the year by offering a new workshop dedicated to the slightly mysterious, sometimes dangerous but always awesome mushroom.
This workshop is suitable for absolute beginners and participants will learn how to forge their own unique mushroom to take home or gift to someone dear.
After a brief safety induction, participants will learn how to forge out the hood from mild steel sheet and then twist up and texture the mushroom stalk and base with the use of a hammer and anvil.
Minimum age for students is 12 and under 15’s need to be accompanied by an adult, also enrolled in the course.
Give yourself extra time to settle in and familiarize yourself with the workshop tools and safety instructions.
Protect your feet from hot metal sparks by wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes.
Wear natural fiber clothing that covers your arms and legs to protect against heat and sparks.
Bring water and stay hydrated, as forging can be physically demanding even indoors.
