3 days
We spend the 3 days of riding and exploring some magical trails around Benarkin Forests in Somerset, and around Blackbutt in the South Burnett region. There are so many fun tracks to zip around on and enjoy including riding through a beautiful pine forests..
The riding is fantastic and each day is different. You can expect plenty of trotting, cantering, hills and lots of fun!
Day 1: We head along the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail towards Nanango. We will turn off the trail and explore some fantastic bush tracks. Walk, trot & canter. Lots of these tracks are soft for the horses to get up and go on. Some great hills to play on too! Approx 4 hours of riding.
Day 2: We set out from camp in the opposite direction to day 1. This time heading towards Linville along the BVRT. We will dart off the rail trail and find ourselves zipping around the pine forestry on some awesome tracks. Eventually getting back onto the trail trail, have a bite to eat and ride back to camp. Approx 4 hours of riding.
Day 3: Our last day of riding, and always fantastic! We will do a circuit which we tell riders is like a little roller coaster of fun! Some hills, some longer stretches to canter along and great views of the countryside. Approx 2.5 hours of riding
You can expect to walk, trot and canter each day, so we recommend an intermediate rider level (comfortable with rising trot & canter) for this adventure. This ride is not recommended if you are a nervous rider. Our horses are reliable and lovely to ride. We use fender and western style saddles.
We supply a yummy breakfast and saddlebag lunch each day and each night we will head to the Blackbutt Pub for a big country meal.
We are offering swag style accommodation at the Blackbutt Showgrounds. The showgrounds have bathrooms and great hot showers which are great after a day of riding! If you prefer a proper bed, we can book you a room at Blackbutt’s Historical Pub, Hotel Radnor for an additional cost of $100/night Twin/Queen room.
You will need to BYO sleeping bag and pillow for the swag. You can BYO swag or tent if you prefer. We will be set up under cover, so your swag and gear will be out of the weather.
We have water bottle holders on the saddles and helmets available. We finish our adventure by 2pm on the last day to give plenty of time to travel home in daylight. The Forests of Somerset 3 Day Getaway is run usually 1-2 times per year.
