3.5-mile trip down the beautiful Rappahannock River. A state protected scenic river still mostly untouched by man. You'll see only 1 house and zero roads or modern manmade structures. Just greenery, wildlife, and civil war era structural remains. High chance of bald eagle sightings. Starts at a private launch location 3.5 miles upriver and ends at Rappahannock River Campground. PFDs, paddles, and shuttle to launch location provided. Trip lasts 2-3 hours depending on water levels. You can make it last as long as you want. Lots of fishing holes and picnic areas.
Ideal water level for this trip is 3-5ft. Once the river drops below 3ft on the guage(link below), you'll likely have to pull your boats through a couple of areas(canoes drag sooner than kayaks). Lower levels are great for fishing. CHECK WATER LEVEL HERE
Bring water shoes, drybags for anything you do not wish to get wet, plenty of fluids and snacks. At least 1 cellphone per group is required. Waterproof pouches for phones are available for purchase if you do not have one.
Keep your essentials dry by using a waterproof bag during your paddle.
Dress in moisture-wicking layers to adjust comfortably to changing weather on the water.
Use sunscreen and wear a hat to protect yourself from sun exposure during the trip.
