Itinerary

This special Viking and Swedish history tour will check out the historical highlights of Sweden's coolest and biggest places. You will get a big dose of Vikings, mediveal history and visit some of our best preserved historical areas and places. This tour includes areas from the Bronze age until today and goes out towards the Enköping area and not north of Stockholm as our others does. The focus will however be on the viking age and the turbulent mediveal ages. Hotel pick up and cruise port pickup and drop off within 5km from Stockholm central station are included (don't include the Nynäshamn harbour).

  1. Sigtuna. First we visit the town Sigtuna for a city walk (also avalible on our tours Sigtuna Roots of Sweden and our two longer Viking Tours).

  2. A Ingvar runestone and vendel era grave mounds (in Varpsund). The invar runestone is one of the coolest evidences linked to a written story. This viking runestone point's towars a saga told at the Swedish kings court in the 1200d;s and written down by a visiting Icelandis scholar where it got preserved to our days. We also pass by Håtuna royal farm where a dramatic power fight among the king and his two brothers once where held in the early mediveal ages. We also visit a Ingvar Runestone (and tell about Ingvar vittfarne and his adventures) and pass by two massive vendel era (previking age 550-800AD) grave mounds.

  3. Biskops-Arnö. We than arrives at Biskips-Arnö, a center for politic and power during the mediveal age. This isle was no less than the Swedish Archbishops summer isle in the mediveal times. Today it hold a magnificant celler with 1300:ds gothic vaults and pillars that have survived until today.

  4. A mediveal church with 15th C paintings. We continue our journey true Swedish history to a mediveal church painted by Albertus Pictur, Swedens most famous church painter workshop that have decorated around 30 churches from 1460 until a bit into the 1500d:s.

  5. Bronze age rock crawlings On our way home we stop at Boglösa hällristningsområde, one of the biggest areas full of Swedish rock carvings from the bronze age. Than we travel back to Stockholm.
