About

Highly recommended on Trip Advisor, the Game of Thrones Tour from Belfast will give you the chance to see iconic sites from the iconic TV show. Whilst the hugely popular Game of Thrones TV series, adapted from George Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire novels, was filmed all over Europe, many of the key locations were based in Northern Ireland. You will also see other gems of Northern Ireland including Carrickfergus Castle and the Giant’s Causeway located along the stunning Antrim coast.

Your local guide, fan of both the books & TV series will discuss information from the Game of Thrones series, and recall incredible tales of legend and local history that could come right out of the books.

Carrickfergus Castle

Whilst not being featured in Game of Thrones as a filming location this imposing Norman castle would have fitted in perfectly as a stronghold in the North of Westeros.

Stop at Carnlough (Season 6)

Nestled along the scenic Antrim coastal road is the charming fishing village of Carnlough, where we pause for a brief comfort break. This delightful stop is a perfect addition to your journey, offering the chance to admire the quaint harbour, home to pleasure boats and small fishing vessels. The area is renowned for its rich opportunities in both sea and freshwater angling, adding to its tranquil charm. Fans of Game of Thrones will also recognize this picturesque location, as the harbour was featured as part of the City of Braavos in Season 6, making it a must-see for Arya Stark fans!

Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge (Viewpoint Only)

Pause at the iconic Carrick-a-Rede Rope Bridge and take in the spectacular views from the designated viewpoint. Although this tour does not include crossing the bridge, you’ll have the chance to admire the dramatic 75-foot-deep chasm that separates the mainland from Carrick Island. From this vantage point, enjoy breathtaking scenery of rugged cliffs, the sweeping coastline, and the vivid blue waters below—an ideal spot for capturing stunning photos of Northern Ireland’s natural beauty.

Photo Stop on the Kings’ Road

The iconic Dark Hedges is a highlight and one of the day’s top Instagram spots. Fans of Game of Thrones will instantly recognize this avenue as the King’s Road, where Arya Stark made her daring escape from King’s Landing. Even if you’re not a fan of the series, the 300-year-old beech trees create a truly magical and unforgettable sight.Pose for pictures before you take lunch.

Lunch will be at a pub in Ballymoney. You are welcome to bring your own lunch, and there will be places along the way to purchase hot and cold food.

Explore The Giants Causeway

Departing from central Belfast, you will head north along the scenic Antrim coast to see the UNESCO-listed Giant’s Causeway. Although not featured in Game of Thrones, this spectacular site is a must-see, with approximately 1 ½ hours to explore. Often hailed as the 8th wonder of the world, it’s easy to see why once you arrive. This incredible site features around 40,000 hexagonal basalt columns, formed by a volcanic eruption 60 million years ago. While it’s one of the world’s most stunning natural wonders, many Irish believe it was crafted by the legendary Celtic warrior Finn McCool. We’ll share the tale, and you can decide for yourself!

Dunluce Castle (Photo Stop)

The journey back to Belfast includes a final stop at Dunluce Castle, the 17th-century ruins used as the exterior of the House of Greyjoy on the show. Pose for pictures, then return to Belfast, where you will be dropped back at the city center.

Please note as there is walking as part of the tour, it may not be suitable for those with mobility problems.
