Policies & Additional Information

While we are excited to offer this unique experience, safety is our number one priority.

  • Cab-riders MUST be 18 years of age or older. A waiver of liability is required to participate in this activity.
  • Only one cab rider is permitted aboard the locomotive at one time. Tickets are sold round-trip to and from the Orbisonia Station.
  • Closed-toed shoes are required for all cab riders. Anyone wearing open-toed shoes like sandals, crocks, or flip-flops will not be permitted aboard the locomotive. The railroad reserves the right to deny any cab rider for not wearing the appropriate footwear.
  • Shorts, cutoff jeans, ripped jeans, or other similar items are prohibited. Full-length jeans or slacks are required.
  • Photography and videography are permitted at the discretion of the Engineer and Conductor.
  • It is the sole duty of the Engineer and Fireman to ensure the safe passage of their train over the railroad. Cab riders are prohibited from distracting the engine crew from the performance of their duties and must always follow their instructions. Failure to comply with their instructions, or any other transgression, will result in the removal of the cab rider from the locomotive at the next safe opportunity without refund.
  • Cab riders are not permitted to operate any equipment, under any circumstances.
  • While we work hard to maintain published schedules, consists, and itineraries, The EBTF can change equipment or motive power at any time, for any reason, without notice. The EBTF reserves the right to cancel any experience, tour, or excursion for any reason, including but not limited to, inclement weather or mechanical problems. The EBTF will not be held liable for any delays regardless of the cause.

Accessibility Information

  • Boarding a steam locomotive requires riders to climb several very tall steps on a ladder and requires upper-body strength, good balance, and agility. For this reason, this experience is not accessible to those requiring a mobility device, wheelchair, or walking assistance.
  • Cab riders must be able to walk, climb stairs/ladders, and stand for long periods of time unassisted. Cab riders will be standing for at least one hour.
  • The cab floor may be slippery and will be uneven. Standing and walking on a moving steam locomotive is a more taxing experience than on a train car as there is significantly more motion.
  • For their safety, service animals are not permitted aboard the locomotive.
  • Cab riders will be in close proximity to hot surfaces, coal smoke, whistles, bells, and other loud noises.
