6-7 Hours
The perfect mixture of adventure and deep contact with nature. We will visit Puerto Rico’s most famous forest: El Yunque National Forest. This natural wonder is a magnificent tropical rainforest nested in the mountains of the Sierra of Luquillo, in the northeast part of the island. The reserve is administered by the United States Forest Service and our company is part of the selected group of tour operators with permit to provide tour guide services to the forest. Depending on the aptitudes and characteristics of each group we will visit certain elements of the location that could include: El Portal Visitor Center, La Coca Waterfall, Yocahú Tower, Baño Grande and Baño de Oro, Caimitillo Trail or Mt. Britton Trail. Our tour guides will interpret the geology, geography, biology and history of this unique forest established in 1876.
Remember to wear sneakers or Teva/Keen type hiking sandals and athletic clothing. Sunblock and hat or cap are highly recommended. Remember to eat something for breakfast. Bring at least one bottle of water and snacks. In case it rains bring sandals and dry clothing.
Trails can be slippery and wet; shoes with good grip or waterproof hiking sandals help maintain footing.
The tour lasts 6-7 hours with limited resale options inside the forest, so stay hydrated and energized.
Mornings bring quieter trails and better wildlife viewing before midday humidity rises.
Sudden tropical showers are common; bring a lightweight rain jacket and quick-drying clothing.
El Yunque was designated a national forest in 1876, making it the oldest protected tropical rainforest under U.S. management.
