6–7 hours
Good aerobic fitness and leg strength for sustained climbs; comfortable standing on pedals and handling loose terrain.
Ride from the streets of Chamonix to the clear green bowl of Lac Vert on an electric mountain bike. This 6–7 hour loop blends technical climbs, open pastureland and glacier views—perfect for riders who want long mileage with electric-aid and alpine payoff.
You start behind the Folie Douce kiosk in downtown Chamonix with a bike that hums more than it pedals — an eMTB tuned for the granite teeth of the Mont Blanc massif. The road slips quickly into singletrack; stone and root chatter under tires, larch scent rising as the town’s chatter thins. The climb is honest: the motor helps, but the grade asks for rhythm and focus. When the trees finally open, Lac Vert appears, rimmed in a green that makes a claim on the day — cold, clear, and defiantly alpine.

Carry at least 2–3 liters in a bladder or bottles—alpine taps are intermittent and climbs dehydrate fast.
Temperatures can drop quickly near the lake — an insulated windproof layer and light gloves make a big difference.
Have the skills to fix a puncture and adjust brakes; guides carry repair kits but self-sufficiency keeps the group moving.
Departing in the morning gives cleaner light at Lac Vert and cooler climbing temperatures.
The Chamonix valley’s pastures have been grazed for centuries; routes to alpine lakes like Lac Vert were used seasonally by shepherds moving flocks.
Trails are sensitive to erosion—stick to marked tracks, avoid widening switchbacks, and pack out all trash to protect alpine vegetation.
Protective helmet is mandatory and provided, but bring your own for best fit.
Grippy, ankle-supporting shoes help on rocky climbs and technical descents.
Keeps water and small tools accessible during long climbs.
