Dutch, named after Dutch Hinkley, a long-time Secesh and Warren resident, was hired to assist with several construction projects in the 1980s and 90s, including the moving of this cabin from McCall. It was the back porch for another cabin, the Saltzer Cabin, also moved up from the end of Payette Lake at the time. It is at the entrance to all cabins and just across from the office and the pool, ideal for those who prefer easier access. It is winterized, has a full bed, and accommodates two.
Our cabins at Burgdorf are simple and rustic. Remember they are sparsely furnished log cabins, so you need to come prepared. In each cabin, you can expect a wood-burning stove for heat and bed with a recently purchased mattress and mattress cover, a clean sheet upon which to place your desired bedding or sleeping bag, as well as a table and chairs. The cabins do not have electricity or water. Outhouses are close by and firewood is on the porch. All cabins are within walking distance of the office and pool area. The surrounding area is scenic and natural. No pets allowed on property: Please leave your furry friends at home. Think camping with a cozy fire, in a clean cabin, with a bed.
Since the cabins have no running water, be sure to bring enough drinking and cooking water for your stay.
Even summer nights can get chilly, so pack warm layers to stay comfortable around the fire.
Without electricity, reliable lighting like headlamps or battery-powered lanterns is a must after dark.
Respect the pristine environment by packing out all trash and minimizing your impact during the visit.
Burgdorf Hot Springs was once a mining town in the late 1800s, later transformed into a rustic retreat.
