This hike begins in the charming village of Valldemossa and ascends through mystical oak forests to the historic Camí de s’Arxiduc, a stone path offering iconic views of Sa Foradada and the Tramuntana coastline. The return passes through peaceful oak groves, concluding back in Valldemossa with a renewed connection to Mallorca’s wild and poetic spirit. The Hike Station Grading System: Medium - Difficult
Food & Beverages: Carrying ample drinking water is essential. There are no stores or other facilities along our trails. Fruit and energy bars are ideal for mid-way sustenance.
What to Bring: The Hike Station will provide for each person a small backpack. You should bring at least 1.5L of water per person, and snacks if you would like. Please bring your own: sun hat, sun cream, and swimwear for coastal hikes. Also ensure you bring any necessary medication or inhalers that you might require during the hike.
What to Wear: Suitable footwear, including socks (sports trainers are fine). Anyone wearing unsuitable footwear (such as flip-flops), or no socks, will not be able to hike. Ideally you should wear comfortable, quick-drying sportswear. A jacket or hoodie are recommended for sunset hikes, windy days, or rare cold days! We think black is best!
There are no facilities along the trail, so staying hydrated is crucial.
Sports trainers with socks work well, but flip-flops or sandals are not allowed for safety reasons.
A sun hat and sunscreen are important, especially during midday hiking.
There are no food stops along the route; carrying light snacks helps keep energy up.
The Camí de s’Arxiduc was built by Archduke Ludwig Salvator in the late 1800s to connect his estates, blending practical infrastructure with respect for nature.
