About

Visit one of the oldest and more emblematic wine estates of the Douro region, located in Lamego.

A Traditional Grape Treading tour offers visitors a unique, hands-on experience of an age-old winemaking tradition.

Guests step into large, shallow stone tanks (lagares) filled with freshly harvested grapes, using their feet to gently crush the fruit, just as generations of winemakers have done for centuries.

This immersive activity not only connects participants with the heritage of winemaking, but also adds fun and authenticity to the process.

Accompanied by local experts, the tour typically includes stories about the history of grape treading, its importance in producing high-quality wines, and a chance to taste the resulting wines. Often, this experience is rounded off with food pairings or a visit to the vineyard to further explore the region’s winemaking traditions.

Come and enjoy the Douro authentic flavours!

Our experience includes:

  • Traditional grape treading;
  • Guided visit to the winery;
  • Wine tasting.
