About

Our Dosewallips Estuary Tour is one of our most popular guided kayaking adventures. This 3 hour round-trip paddle takes us to the Dosewallips River Estuary where we will watch the amazing array of year round and seasonal wildlife and explore the lower river channels. Our Biologist or Naturalist Guide will teach you about the wildlife we see and talk about the natural history of the Hood Canal. The Dosewallips Estuary is one of Washington’s largest intact estuaries and is home to up to 100 harbor seals, bald eagles, blue herons, salmon, river otters and much more. If you are lucky, we’ll spot Brinnon’s herd of Roosevelt Elk grazing on the banks!

More info

We trailer kayaks to different launch location that brings us closer to the estuary. You may be asked to help lift and carry gear. If you have a disability that would hinder your lifting and carrying abilities, please let us know. If you have a preference of kayak type (single or tandem) please call or e-mail us at least 2 days before your tour so we can load your selection. Also, if you require an odd size of pfd (XXL or XXS, toddler, or youth) please let us know ahead of time. Note that we do not get out of the kayaks on this tour. Wear shoes that can get wet and dress for the day's outdoor weather.

Adventure Tips

Wear Layers and Bring Waterproof Gear

Weather conditions can change quickly; dressing in layers and packing waterproof clothing will keep you comfortable on the water.

Paddle at Low Tide for Better Wildlife Viewing

Tidal cycles influence wildlife activity; planning your tour around low tide can increase your chances of observing critters in shallow waters.

Book Early During Peak Seasons

Summer and spring months fill up quickly, so reserve your spot in advance to secure your preferred date.

Bring Sun Protection and Water

Even on cloudy days, UV rays can be strong; bringing sunscreen, hats, and plenty of water is advisable.
