About

The remote beaches at Natures Wonders are a breeding ground for remarkable wildlife. This coach tour takes you across farmland to wildlife viewing areas where you’ll see penguins, seals and cormorants in their natural habitat. The scenery is incredible, but it’s the wildlife that steals the show on this fully-guided, small-group tour. You’ll see:

  • Hoiho yellow-eyed penguins (one of the world’s rarest)
  • Blue penguins (the world’s smallest), and
  • NZ fur seals (one of the cutest).

Keep an eye skyward and you might catch a glimpse of the majestic Royal Albatross - the bird with the world’s largest wingspan.

The journey to Natures Wonders is as stunning as the destination. The drive there takes you over the high road of the Otago Peninsula to Taiaroa Head. Along the way you’ll take in the spectacular views of remote beaches, steep rolling hills, rustic farmhouses and picturesque inlets. You will also stop (photo stop) for a look at Otakou Marae before continuing to your destination.

After the tour, we will return to the city via the low road - a captivating harbour-side drive. Let Awesome Tours take you on an unforgettable trip to this private, family-owned conservation area on the Otago Peninsula.

“Otago Peninsula… the finest example of ecotourism in the world.” David Bellamy, British botanist, and environmentalist.
