Trail type- dirt road, smooth and rocky with some ruts and sand dips. NO BATHROOMS. Meet o Warner Rd. parking location. Meandering dirt roads will lead you to one of the U.S. soldier strongholds of Fort Pearce. Fort Pearce Historic Site is one of only three remaining stone guard posts built during Utah’s Black Hawk War. The fort was built during intermittent raiding between 1865 and 1870. The Ute Tribe led by Chief Black Hawk attempted to drive the Mormons from the Ute homelands as the pioneers attempted protect their ranches and settlements. The soldiers left their markings on nearby clis that date back to 1857. Further down the road are dinosaur tracks that were discovered in 1982. These giant tracks had been preserved by petried volcanic ash, only to be unveiled in recent years by erosion. A fun experience to walk along side where dinosaurs walked.
The dirt roads can be uneven and rocky, so comfortable hiking shoes are recommended.
