About This Adventure

Experience an enchanting evening of fine dining aboard vintage dinner trains at the National Railroad Museum on September 11th and 18th. Savor a five-course meal from different caterers while enjoying stunning views of the Fox River at sunset. This unique event supports educational programs for at-risk students, making it memorable and meaningful.

Join us on September 11th or September 18th for an unforgettable evening of fine dining aboard vintage dinner trains at the National Railroad Museum. Bring your friends and family on the 1930s Chicago, Burlington & Quincy #300 Silver Spirit train car or the 1920s Atlantic Coast Line Dothan Dining Car and experience our Dinner Train event. For the first time ever, Dinner Train will take place on one of two nights, with a different caterer on each night!

On Thursday, September 11th, enjoy a five-course meal expertly prepared by Iron Duck Restaurant, and on Thursday, September 18th, enjoy your meal artfully crafted by Plae Bistro! On September 18th, the menu will not be able to accommodate nut or dairy allergies.

Your journey begins at 6:00 p.m. on the train platform where you will hear Justin Lambrecht, our Director of Education, share information about dinner trains of the past. Then, you will board your train and set out around the track where you and your guest(s) will enjoy a delectable dinner on the high bridge looking out across the Fox River and Dutchman Creek at sunset.

Funds raised support the National Railroad Museum, a 501(c)3 educational institution with roots dating back to 1956. Funds will go back into our at-risk student fund, providing free or reduced-rate educational programs for children at disadvantaged schools. Tickets are $150 per person and can only be purchased in tables of 4. At the time of your ticket purchase, you will be able to select if you choose to dine on our Silver Spirit Dining & Lounge Car or our Dothan Dining Car.

This event has been a fan favorite and a sellout every year – be sure to secure your tickets early for a prime seat on the train (though every seat is a great one)!
