El monasterio de la Cartuja de Granada, obra maestra del barroco, es uno de los máximos exponentes de la arquitectura barroca española y andaluza. Su construcción comenzó gracias a la cesión de unos terrenos por parte del Gran Capitán, Gonzalo Fernández de Córdoba, aunque finalmente se desvinculo del proyecto. En 1516 se reiniciaron las obras que durarían tres siglos, de los cuales sólo se conserva una parte, por la destrucción de algunas partes, y permaneció habitada hasta 1835 Algunas partes, como la iglesia, la sacristía y el sagrario contienen una decoración generosa, donde destacan en la última la obra del maestro Federico Hurtado Izquierdo.
