We will explore the Museum in depth then venture out to the French Quarter and Treme areas to explore Voodoo history and its culture but past and present.
The Voodoo Museum and New Orleans Walking Tour begins with a knowledgeable guided tour the historic voodoo museum; the museum is small but filled with interesting one of a kind exhibits that explore voodoo's influence on New Orleans and it's people.
Then well take a short walk to several near by locations including Congo Square where we'll investigate the voodoo rituals of past and present. We also visit Marie Lareau's house and discuss this important and powerful Voodoo priestess.
Nate and his team are passionate about New Orlean's Voodoo history and culture. The walking tour has guidelines but is not scripted so questions are welcome and we are happy to dive deeper into the topics that interest you. The Cemetery was closed early in the pandemic and only recently reopened but with limited access so we are still not allowed to include it in our tour. We have a replica of Marie Lareau's tomb in the museum so we can talk about this important symbol.
This walking tour covers several neighborhoods, so comfortable shoes are recommended.
