More ways to explore the area's outdoor wonders
Stand in a small studio above a Paia street, windows throwing Hawaiian light across a worktable; the ocean outside keeps time with a steady, salt-scented rhythm that dares you to bring a piece of it indoors. In this 90-minute class you’ll learn to mix slow-curing epoxy, embed dried flowers, stones, and gold leaf, and finish four food-safe coasters that hold a little of the island’s edge.

History
Paia developed as a 19th-century sugar plantation town and later became a surf-and-art enclave, which informs its creative workshop culture.
Conservation
Instructors emphasize responsible sourcing — don’t collect protected marine life — and advise proper disposal of resin waste to avoid environmental contamination.

Arrive early to find parking
Check in 10 minutes before class at 24 Luna Place; turn into the parking lot (studio is upstairs above a massage salon).
Bring dry, legal mementos
You may embed sand, shells or small keepsakes — make sure anything you bring is dry and legally collected.
Wear color-friendly clothing
Epoxy and pigments can stain; wear clothes you don’t mind marking or use the provided apron.
Plan for curing time
Coasters will need additional curing time at home (up to 72 hours) before heavy use; transport carefully after class.
Color-friendly clothes
Protects your clothing from pigments and accidental resin splashes.
Small keepsakes (dry shells, sand in a sealed bag)
Personal items make your coasters unique — bring them dry and small to embed.
Nitrile gloves (if you prefer your own)
You can use the provided PPE or bring your own for comfort.
Rigid transport box or tray
Keeps wet or tacky pieces flat and secure while they finish curing at home.
