This is not the same as the Wave but is located at the opposite end (south side instead of north side) from the Wave. Though it also requires a permit to tour, it’s well worth the effort. Coyote Buttes South is just a small part of the 112,500 acre Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness, but has some of the most visually striking geologic sandstone formations in the world. It is a very solitary place where you can often see no one.
We are happy to pick you up wherever you are staying if it is local to Kanab. You will specify your pickup location when you book. If you are driving in for the day, then we will meet you at the Coral Cliffs Tours office in Kanab (address will be given to you). If you are coming from Page, we can even meet you at the off road turn off parking lot at House Rock Valley Road and Highway 89 junction.

Bring at least 3 liters per person as there are no water sources on the hike.
The terrain is rugged with slickrock and loose gravel; good hiking boots are a must.
Sun protection is crucial since the trail has minimal natural cover.
The trail is unmarked and can be disorienting; navigation tools are highly recommended.
Coyote Buttes South is part of the Paria Canyon area historically used by Native American tribes and early settlers for seasonal hunting.
Visitors are encouraged to stick to durable surfaces and pack out all waste to preserve the fragile desert ecosystem.
