Old Harry Rocks is one of the most famous landmarks on the South Coast, situated on Handfast Point at the end of Studland Bay.
Until 1896 there was another stack known as Old Harry’s Wife, but erosion caused her to tumble into the sea, leaving just a stump.
Thousands of years ago, Old Harry and The Needles (another chalk rock formation) on the Isle of Wight, were linked by a line of chalk hills that eroded away during the last ice age. On a clear day you can see The Needles from Studland Bay.
This one hour trip departs Swanage Pier and steams directly across the bay to Ballard Point, continued by a gentle cruise along the chalk cliffs, round to Old Harry Rocks. You will get a close up view of the dramatic cliffs and giant rock stacks, as well as the chance to spot Cormorants, the Black-backed Gull and Peregrine Falcons, which are regularly sighted here. Occasionally throughout the year, Seals and pods of Bottlenose Dolphins make visits around Old Harry Rocks and can be seen for weeks on end.
