This tour will be divided in two, a walking tour going through the heart of the city followed by a driven tour of the outskirts and the various points of interest outside the city centre.
Glasgow has too many attractions to do them all in an single day and indeed some of are worth spending a full day in them alone however we don’t have that luxury. We will start the tour by heading into the centre of the city. From our parking space we will head to Glasgow Cathedral a stunning old building dating back to 1136AD. In the same area we will visit Provand’s Lordship house, this is the oldest house still standing in Glasgow today dating back to 1471 and the Necropolis to get some stunning panoramic views of the city.
From the Cathedral area we will walk down past the city chambers to George Square. The square was originally laid out in 1781 and is named after George III. This area was used to recreate Philadelphia in the Brad Pitt movie World War Z, it is also where Frank Proposes to Claire in the hit TV series Outlander. From the square we will head down Queen Street to see if the Duke of Wellington Statue is wearing his famous hat or traffic cone as is the norm. Here we can also visit the Glasgow Museum of Modern Art. We will walk up Buchanan Street to the Royal Concert Hall.
This will complete our city centre circuit and we will head back to our vehicle to drive out to the suburbs to visit the magnificent Kelvingrove Art Gallery opened in 1901. There are 22 galleries in this single building. You will also see the beautiful Hunterian museum surrounded by Glasgow University. From Kelvingrove we will head to the Riverside Museum where we can also take in the SECC, the Armadillo and the Hydro entertainment venues as well as the Glasgow Science Centre. there is also a new whisky distillery in this area which you may wish to visit.
There are so many attractions in Glasgow we will not see them all but if there is anything you specifically want to see just let us know and we will add it into the tour.
