Catalina Island Mermaid Underwater Photoshoot

This no experience necessary activity can be thought of as a "Mermaid Snorkel Tour". Due to Catalina's cold water (especially in the winter months) your in-water time sometimes depends on your cold-tolerance. This experience includes:

• Mask & Snorkel
• Mermaid Tail & Monofin
• PADI Discover or Basic Mermaid Class (depending on your age)
• Photos & GoPro Videos on a Shared Online Gallery

What to expect:##

Meet us 5 minutes prior to your excursion at the Via Casino Archway located at Step Beach. Here you will be asked to sign a waiver, and fill out a photo release form.

Next, pick out a mermaid tail, mask, and snorkel to borrow. After a short instructional safety briefing, kids and adults, ages 6 and older, walk 100 steps over to Middle Beach. Once at the beach, we leave our legs behind, entering the water, and putting on our mermaid tails!

Guests will join an instructor in water shallow enough to stand and be given a pool noodle to enjoy and rest on.

A PADI Mermaid Instructor will teach you important safety techniques like "Emergency Tail Removal" and the "Back Float" before venturing into water too deep to stand.

Participants will look for fish, and learn the names of any that they might see, as well as learn fun facts about the underwater environment on Catalina Island. Among other skills, you will learn basic freediving techniques like how to dive under the water and swim as a mermaid with proper breath-holding technique.

As a parting gift you will receive access to an online gallery where you can see photos and videos from their experience.

There is a maximum of 6 guests per session. Guests may need to take turns getting in the water depending on the size of the group, and the ages of participants. Sizes are available for children and adults up to size 28 women's, or men's 4XL.

Duration:##

The entire experience takes no longer than two hours from meeting to drying off and saying our goodbyes.

Attention Parents:##

For children under 18, parents do not need to participate or get in the water, but must be present on the beach for the duration of the experience.
