During this hike we will be going up a trail towards Carlo Mountain. The trail ascends above tree line quickly, making it a rewarding but steep trail. We will approach it at a relaxed pace, pausing frequently to discuss the local flora and fauna.
Difficulty: Moderate Elevation gain of less than 1,000 feet (305 meters); may include some areas of muddy or boggy ground, large and uneven tussocks, rocks and generally uneven terrain. The trail is about 4 miles long and is at times steep.
We provide hiking poles to any members of the group that needs or requests them.
Weather Because we're hiking in such a mountainous area, the weather can change rapidly. So it's important to be prepared for sun or snow. We recommend waring layers of clothing that can be easily adjusted to suit the weather

We will be meeting at the Denali Hostel & Cabins front office 15 minutes before the tour start time. If you are staying at McKinley Creekside Cabins, the Hostel driveway has a mail box is directly across the highway.
Denali Hostel & Cabins is within walking distance of the lodges in Carlo Creek, including The Perch, McKinley Creekside Cabins, and Carlo Creek Cabins.
