  • Over the course of this 2 hour walking & driving trip, we will explore the marshes and the shores of the ponds and beaches of Huntington Beach State Park.

We will get started by checking out what is flying around the pond along Prat Rd. Here we will be on the lookout for Painted Buntings and various species of shorebirds.

Then we will caravan in our own separate personal vehicles south to the parking lot next to the Atalaya. Drive time is approximately 2 mins to the lot. Next, (driving in our own vehicles), we will wrap up the trip by taking a short drive (8mins) to the the Hunting Beach State Park North Beach Access & Picnic area. Spending about 30 mins or so, we'll see if we can spot any ocean or shore birds from the beach. Likely species include various species of Gulls, Sanderlings, Willets, Terns as well as Pelicans and possibly Loons.
