Our Beginner Ride Rasmussen Style Clinic is designed for riders who are new to technical mountain snowmobiling or who want to transition from trail riding to backcountry terrain. As an official Ride Rasmussen Style Provider, we teach the proven fundamentals of the Ride Rasmussen Style method, ensuring that every rider builds a solid foundation of skills to progress safely and confidently.

What You’ll Learn:

Body Positioning & Balance – Master the fundamentals of rider stance, throttle control, and balance to stay in control of your sled at all times.

Machine Handling Basics – Learn how to maneuver your sled with precision, including sidehilling, countersteering, and proper use of throttle and brake.

Terrain Awareness – Build confidence in reading terrain and choosing safe, efficient lines through different snow conditions.

Stuck Management – Learn proper techniques for preventing stucks, as well as effective methods for getting unstuck without exhausting yourself.

Confidence & Safety – Every technique taught is grounded in building rider confidence and enhancing safety in the backcountry. Beginner Skills Check List

  • Proper loading and unloading your snowmobile (Trailer and Sleddecks)
  • Learning and practicing proper body position and footwork
  • Snowmobile set-up and maintenance (belt tension and replacement, Oil, Track tension, Ski alignment, Shocks and Springs, handlebar height and angle)
  • Basic avalanche safety (Avalanche gear check, understanding and using an avalanche report, communication, snow observation and awareness, Etc.)
  • Basic terrain navigation and awareness
  • Throttle control on groomed trails and off trail
  • Sled Control- steering and turning on the groomed trails
  • Introduction to carving in powder, Counter-steering
  • How to get unstuck- Throttle Control, packing snow, rolling a sled, ski-pulling, when to shovel
