This one day clinic is ideal for skiers and riders who are looking to duck the rope into the backcountry. It is very beneficial to folks who have already had or are planning to take a Level 1 Avalanche course.
By the end of the day, participants will have been introduced to skills necessary to participate in future backcountry tours, either guided or as a well informed recreational partner.
The topics we'll cover include packing, layering, pacing, navigation, emergency planning, safe decision making, and many more teachable moments along the way. This is not a substitute for avalanche certification but compliments the skills and knowledge you will gain in a Level 1 Avalanche course.
Layering is essential to adapt to changing weather conditions during backcountry activities.
Always bring your own beacon, probe, and shovel to ensure safety during the trip.
Review recent snowfall and avalanche reports before heading into the backcountry.
Share your route and expected return time with a trusted person before your adventure.
