3 Days & 2 Nights On The Boat
A 3-day, 2 night course. Covers provisioning, meal preparation, boat systems, emergency procedures, safety, advanced navigation, and cruising tips. Demonstrated ability to skipper a sloop-rigged, auxiliary powered (inboard diesel engine) keelboat of approximately 30 to 50 feet in length during an extended cruise in coastal waters in moderate to heavy winds and sea conditions. Knowledge of provisioning, galley operations, boat systems, inboard engine operation, maintenance procedures, advanced sail trim, coastal navigation including basic chart plotting and GPS operation, mooring with multiple anchors, weather interpretation, and dinghy/tender operation.
Price of course includes study materials and ASA exam fees. It does not include: provisioning, meals ashore, or navigation tools.
Weather conditions on the water can change quickly, so packing breathable layers and waterproof clothing is essential.
Getting to the marina early allows you to familiarize yourself with the boat and safety procedures before setting sail.
Sailing can be physically demanding. Bring water and stay hydrated throughout your time on the water.
Having a foundation in essential knots will help you focus on advanced techniques during the course.
