Flying or Driving to Altitude After Diving: For multiple dives per day or multiple days of diving, a minimum surface interval of 18 hours is suggested before flying or driving to altitude. For a single dive, a minimum of 12 hours is suggested.
Advanced depth profiles and drift diving require accurate time-depth tracking for safe ascents and decompression management.
Drift dives along the Kona coast can involve moderate currents; strong swimming skills and good buoyancy control are crucial.
Divers must meet experience prerequisites, including recent dives and advanced certifications, to safely participate.
Long days on the water demand hydration and protection that won’t harm Hawaii’s delicate marine ecosystems.
Kona’s underwater terrain was shaped by volcanic activity that continues to influence the rich marine habitats vital to local culture and economy.
Jack's Diving Locker participates in ocean conservation by supporting Hawaii’s marine preservation fees and following sustainable dive practices to protect fragile reef systems.
Crucial for monitoring dive time, depth, and decompression limits on advanced dives.
Protects against cooler water temperatures at depth and potential abrasions in lava tube environments.
Useful for exploring darker caverns and lava tubes where sunlight doesn’t penetrate.
Necessary for signaling your position during drift dives and surfacing away from the boat.
