Discover the serene morning beauty of Acadia National Park from the deck of a private cruise. Explore coastal cliffs, wildlife, and stunning views near Mount Desert Island.
9:30am | Late May - Late October
Our popular cruise of the Great Harbor of Mount Desert and Somes Sound Fjord has operated for more than 40 years. The morning trip is narrated by a Ranger provided by Acadia National Park's Naturalist Program or by one of our experienced professional local naturalists.
Superb views of Bear Island Lighthouse, nesting osprey and basking harbor seals framed by Acadia’s dramatic mountains comprise the first portion of the cruise. A highlight of the middle of the trip is a 45-minute stop (exact timing may be adjusted depending on the time of year) at the 200-year-old lobster fishing village of Little Cranberry Island. While there you are free to explore this unspoiled offshore island community reminiscent of days gone by. Depending on the time of year Acadia National Park's renowned Islesford Historical Museum may be visited (NOTE: The museum opens in June and closes in late September and often has limited hours in the shoulder seasons). The last hour of the trip cruises deep into Somes Sound Fjord for a spectacular view of the vertical Eagle Cliffs rising directly from the sea.
