Course Overview
Perched amid the vast and rugged landscape of the North Dakota Badlands, Bully Pulpit Golf Course offers an 18-hole public layout that challenges and captivates golfers with its distinctive blend of natural terrain and carefully crafted design. The course snakes across rolling hills and dramatic rock formations, a rare setting where golf meets nature’s raw artistry. While the wide-open spaces give an impression of freedom, the course itself requires strategic thinking and a steady touch, making every round an engaging test.
Each hole weaves through a setting that amplifies your connection to the land. Elevated tees provide sweeping views of prairie and buttes, while fairways contour around native grasses and rugged outcroppings, greeting every shot with both beauty and challenge. The wind, a constant companion here, demands players to fine-tune their swing and club selection to maintain control.
Playability remains a strength at Bully Pulpit. It welcomes a broad spectrum of skill levels, from newcomers enticed by the open feel to low handicappers aiming to navigate the course’s subtle complexities. Greens are generally receptive but reward thoughtful approach shots and precise putting to keep your score on track.
Amenities enhance the experience without overwhelming the authentic outdoor feel. A well-appointed clubhouse sits near the first tee, offering friendly staff, a pro shop stocked with essentials, and areas to relax before or after your round. Power carts equipped with GPS allow for comfortable navigation across the undulating terrain, while walking remains a viable option for those wanting to immerse themselves fully in the setting—sturdy shoes are recommended for varied footing.
Seasonal conditions shape play throughout the year, with the prime window running from late spring through early fall. Renovations, such as the ongoing updates to Hole 16, reflect a commitment to continual improvement, promising fresh challenges upon your return.
Bully Pulpit is no ordinary golf course; it is a place where the encounter with the land sharpens focus and lifts the spirit. Whether you arrive seeking a serene outing or a demanding round, this course delivers a memorable experience shaped by the striking Badlands around every shot.

The course’s dramatic Badlands setting creates naturally challenging elevation changes and panoramic views. A Must for golfers of any skill! Beautiful, unique. I don't play but rode along and could not believe the beauty. It's so quiet the birds sound like a high school pep rally. Don't miss it when you're in the area.

Wow! Just wow! This is our second time golfing here and it still is my favorite course of all time. We got out early and were the first ones on the course. The greens and fairways were immaculate! Challenging holes and greens and amazing views everywhere! Staff in the clubhouse and on the course were great!

It's been years since I was there, but I highly, highly recommend Bully Pulpit. It's a really fun course overall, and the stretch of holes that are up in the badlands are pretty amazing. (It's also the first place I ever made four 3s in a row, so the memories are good.)

The course is in good shape! The big problem was that we where put with a family of 4 the one child and faher where going to play and with that said it was 2 childern and father with 2 bags of golf clubs and 1 putter to share.. My husband and I came to play a relaxing game of golf and it was far from that. I believe if a family comes out to play DO NOT put them with others that have spend that kind of money we did to play. I believe this should not have happened at the beginning, we should have been allowed to play on our own.

My spouse and I played the back 8 tonight. The real Hole 16 is under renovation; club house staff represented that it would be available for play next season. Even with one hole missing from the round there was nothing to complain about. Power carts are clean and GPS equipped. Staff was courteous and friendly. The amount of merchandise available in the pro shop was surreal. You could play a poor round here but you would forget your play quality because of the surrounding beauty of the Badlands. If you crave elevated tee boxes the the back 9 is undoubtedly the place to go. The regular season is forecasted to end September 29. Take a break from whatever you are doing and come enjoy this remote treasure; you will have no regrets.

Immaculate course, professional, and friendly staff! I visited from California, inadvertently left a speaker on the golf cart and one of the associates mailed it to my home with a BP postcard - class move! Big fan!
