East Bay Golf Club Review and Overview

Largo, Florida, USAWest Central Florida

East Bay Golf Club offers a straightforward, approachable 18-hole parkland course in Largo, Florida. With its flat terrain, manageable yardage, and affordable rates, it welcomes beginners and casual players looking for a relaxed round near the Gulf Coast.

Course Overview

East Bay Golf Club in Largo, Florida, presents itself as a traditional 18-hole layout aimed at offering an accessible round for local golfers and visitors seeking a casual experience. Located just minutes from Florida’s picturesque Gulf Coast beaches, the course occupies a flat, parkland-style terrain characterized by large open fairways and modest water features that come into play on several holes. While the course's setting lacks significant elevation changes or dramatic landscape features, it provides an uncomplicated backdrop that suits players of all skill levels, particularly beginners and those looking to enjoy a relaxed pace of play.

The course plays to a par of 72, with total yardage stretching around 6,267 yards from the back tees— a length that is comfortable for most amateurs and seniors. The routing includes a series of straightforward holes where accuracy off the tee is rewarded but not overly demanded. Greens tend to be small to medium in size, bordered by bunkers that require a precise approach but rarely penalize severely.

Amenities at East Bay include a clubhouse with a pro shop that caters to basic needs and an on-site bar and grille where players can refresh after their round. The club emphasizes affordability, making it a popular choice for those seeking value without heavy pressure or exclusivity. Given its public status, the course sees considerable traffic, and slow play has been noted as a concern for some visitors, suggesting that booking early tee times and preparing for a leisurely round will improve the experience.

Golfers planning a visit should prepare for Florida’s often humid climate, bringing water and sun protection. Walking is possible but not typically encouraged due to the course’s flat expanse and cart paths that facilitate smooth transitions between holes. The straightforward nature of the layout and the welcoming environment combine to create a setting well suited for those new to the game or for groups aiming for a sociable round.

While East Bay Golf Club may not rival Florida’s premier championship venues, it occupies a niche as a community-focused facility where the spirit of the game remains approachable and unpretentious. Whether polishing short game skills or building confidence on longer clubs, visitors can expect a manageable day on the links with familiar southern coastal air and easy pacing under calm skies.

Course Highlights

The course is defined by its simple parkland layout featuring wide fairways and strategically placed bunkers protecting the greens. Water hazards appear selectively, adding subtle challenge without overwhelming less experienced players. Its proximity to Largo’s residential areas makes it a convenient option for local golfers. The clubhouse amenities support a casual social atmosphere after your round.

A member of my foursome sent a review yesterday explaining how your ranger was very rude. Your response was a joke and you accused him of telling a lie. Well this is what happened. Two of the foursome ahead of us showed up five minutes late.one of them took about 8 swings, before finally picking up, just to get to the corner. On number two, we waited on the tee box for 5 minutes before we could hit our ball, and then had to wait again for them to finally get off the green. On number three we waited for “TEN MINUTES” while they tried to get over the water. Just as they finally started to drive away, your “ignorant ranger” jumped on us and accused “US” of being slow. One of our guys tried to explain but your rude lad made a sarcastic comment trying to show his “joke” of a power trip. And btw, if he was actually doing a proper job he would have noticed we finished over two holes ahead of the group behind us.You owe my friend an apology! However your response to my review will probably be another attack on us, RIGHT!

Played 18 holes and saw the cart girl once. When she did come around she was very rude. Playing 18 holes on vacation and only seeing the cart girl one time is horrendous. We asked the ranger if the cart girl was out on hole 2 and he gave us a very rude “yes” we did not run into her until hole 14

Played here while on vacation. Greens were in horrible condition. Range was a pasture. Not fun at all.

Horrible condition and slow moving. The greens are all bumpy and some have bare spots or grass tufts growing on them. Fairways have hardly any grass and the rough has clover. Most tee boxes are in rough shape as well. They should be charging $25 a round.

We had a ranger come and tell us to move on the next hole, very rudely may i add, so we were forced to skip holes that we paid for. They book tee times way too close together so you can’t even play without waiting for 2 groups to finish the hole before you begin. Super slow moving and the course is in very poor condition. Update, stopped for a drink at the golf course bar and grille and the ranger wanted to come yell at us yet again. Maybe they need to give instructions on the cart because absolutely nowhere does it say we cannot stop and eat. I don’t know what his problem is but it ruined our experience. Old cranky man.

They don’t allow children to ride on the golf course. Really stupid explanation about “insurance”. How does every other course allow it? All in all, not family friendly. Edit— We wanted to purchase a second cart. You told us children were not allowed on the course due to insurance. Also, not a small child. She’s 8.
