Willow Creek Golf Club
Willow Creek Golf Club features an 18-hole layout blending parkland challenges with open, wind-exposed holes. Its firm, renovated greens and accessible design welcome a wide range of golfers seeking strategic play near Greenville.
Course Overview
Willow Creek Golf Club offers an approachable yet engaging test of golf just outside Greenville, South Carolina. This 18-hole layout, crafted by architect Tom Jackson, unfolds through a residential setting that balances wide fairways with strategically placed hazards. The course’s terrain is gently rolling, combining elements of parkland style with pockets of open exposure to the elements. Players will find a mix of elevated tee boxes and undulating greens, providing subtle challenges without overwhelming less experienced golfers.
The recently renovated greens stand out for their firmness and speed, demanding precision and thoughtful approach shots. Their true roll requires a steady hand on the putter and careful attention to pin placement. When the wind rises, especially on holes with less tree cover, the course tests shot shaping and club selection, adding an extra layer of strategy for mid to low handicappers.
Willow Creek’s layout is well suited for a broad range of players. High handicappers will appreciate generous fairways and the opportunity to play conservatively, while more skilled golfers can take advantage of risk-reward options and tighter lines that emerge on select holes. The par-4 7th hole exemplifies the course’s subtle complexity, blending elevation changes with well-guarded greens that demand accuracy off the tee and a measured approach.
Despite some recent reviews noting cart path conditions and occasional slow play, Willow Creek remains a financially accessible option in the Greenville area. The clubhouse hosts a welcoming staff and a laid-back atmosphere, offering a relaxed environment to unwind post-round. Walking the course is possible, though players should prepare for some hills and uneven paths, recommending sturdy footwear.
For golfers seeking a community-focused, budget-friendly experience with enough variety to hold interest round after round, Willow Creek Golf Club is a practical choice. Its combination of strategic design and straightforward routing encourages repeat visits, making it a dependable staple in the Greenville golf landscape.

Disappointing Experience for the Price I was really looking forward to playing Willow Creek, but the experience fell short. The course was in poor condition — fairways were patchy, several greens were damaged, and overall maintenance seemed neglected. For $70, I expected a much better playing surface. What made matters worse was the check-in experience. I had booked online, and instead of a friendly greeting, I was met with attitude from the staff member, as if using their own online system was a hassle for him. At that price point, both the course and the customer service should be far better. Golf is supposed to be a relaxing escape, but this round felt more like a disappointment from the start.

I have played this course numerous times mostly because it’s only a few minutes from where we live. On 07/02/2025 I decided to take my teenage son to play. We paid $100 dollars for a 2:00 tee time. We were told as soon as we walked through the door that we would be paired with another couple. No big deal. It took us 2 1/2 hours to play the front 9. After finishing hole 11, the round was pretty much over. Not exaggerating, we spent 12 to 15 minutes standing on each and every tee box waiting to take our next shot. While standing on the 14th tee we counted 4 golf carts pass us by. Frustrated customers that overpaid for their round just like us. At that moment, we decided to call it quits. On our way back to the club we counted more 25 players between holes 15 through 18. I can honestly say this is the 2nd Google review I have ever invested my time in leaving. Poorly managed golf course that more than likely survives on community golfers only. Don’t waste your time are hard earn money on this poorly managed golf course. Too many other options available in the area regardless of how far it is from where you live.

Willow Creek Golf Club Greer, SC As we near the end of winter, we're on the hunt for a fun nearby course. Winner, winner, chicken dinner! This fun and challenging 18-hole layout winds around a neighborhood on the outskirts of Greenville, SC. Designed by Tom Jackson, this little treat allows for target golf and full throttle shots. A couple of years back, they renovated the greens, making them much harder to hold longer iron shots. The greens roll true, but as mentioned before, they are much firmer now. When the wind blows, this course tends to play a little harder due to a few holes being exposed. It's a bit of a challenge to walk but can be done. Bring your friends and don't worry about the round breaking your bank. It's financially friendly, and the employees are laid back and genuine.

Actually, the course isn’t bad. It’s very playable and fun, bring a couple of extra balls. The downside of this course is the cart paths. I have played a lot of courses all over the country but I never been this impressed with the poor conditions of cart paths!
