Copper Rock Golf Course

Hurricane, Utah, USASouthwestern Utah

Copper Rock Golf Course offers a compelling desert golf experience with its 18-hole championship layout framed by Utah’s iconic red rock vistas. Challenging yet fair, the course features well-guarded greens, strategic bunkering, and varied elevations that appeal to a wide range of golfers.

Course Overview

Copper Rock Golf Course in Hurricane, Utah, presents an engaging test for golfers seeking a blend of striking scenery and challenging play. This 18-hole, public championship layout stretches over 7,068 yards from the back tees, demanding precision and thoughtful strategy. Set against the dramatic red rock canyons and desert landscape characteristic of Southern Utah, the course creates a dynamic backdrop where rocky outcrops and native desert flora influence every shot.

The routing takes players through a variety of terrain elevations, with greens positioned to reward accurate approaches and quick decision-making. Bunkers are plentiful and often strategically placed to guard the landing areas and greens, requiring careful club selection off the tee. The greens themselves are firm and fast, demanding a good read on subtle breaks and speed variation. Golfers should prepare for significant undulations that test putting skills and add interest to scoring opportunities.

Copper Rock’s layout suits a broad range of skill levels but will particularly appeal to mid-to-low handicap players looking for a course that requires shot-shaping and course management. While it challenges accomplished players with fast, firm conditions and well-protected greens, it is also designed to accommodate higher handicaps with multiple tee boxes and generous fairways on several holes.

The setting offers panoramic views of the nearby red cliffs and expansive Utah sky, lending an open feel without excessive exposure to wind. Players will notice how sunlight shifts the colors of the landscape throughout the round, enhancing the immersive experience.

Amenities include a modest pro shop featuring local merchandise and a casual food counter serving affordable, informal fare. The clubhouse is welcoming and the staff known for their helpfulness and friendliness. Notably, the walking experience is quite manageable despite some elevation changes, with paths well-maintained to avoid wear and ease footing.

Those planning a visit should consider tee times that allow for ample daylight to appreciate the scenic vistas. Although some holes near residential areas require careful shot placement to avoid hazards beyond course boundaries, the overall design crafts a memorable round in a unique desert environment. Copper Rock remains a popular destination for those traveling between Las Vegas and Southern Utah or seeking a challenging desert golf adventure on a public course.

Course Highlights

The course’s layout incorporates the natural desert terrain with strategic bunkering and fast, undulating greens adding depth to the challenge. Signature holes showcase captivating views of red rock formations and incorporate elevation changes that test club selection. Despite some proximity to residential areas, the design maintains a strong desert golf identity, blending wide fairways and tight corridors that reward both power and accuracy.

Definitely worth playing. The whole course is in great shape. Greens were beautiful to match the views. Would easily play again. Hole 11 needs nets for the houses. So tight. Spray right you could be buying a window or two.

Played this course recently and can't say anything else except that it was totally a waste of time. You would assume that $240 for green fees would get you some decent course conditions right, not on this Day. There were thick piles of Grass clippings covering most of the rough on several of the holes. Dead spots on several greens, bunkers were poorly maintained so in and so forth. Drove 4 hours to play this course, what a shame because the layout was actually pretty cool. Hard to believe an Epson tour event will be playing this course next week. May be worth $50 at the most, until conditions are improved to justify what they are charging. Oh, and it took almost 6 hrs to play the round. Marshall was told about groups ahead playing extremely slow, and never did anything to speed them up.

Fun course and in great shape. Pro shop is small but has a couple of things if you like merch. The food counter is also small but had good prices and a friendly staff. You don't pass until after the 11th hole, so plan accordingly. The driving range and first tee (and 18th green) are quite far away from the clubhouse. It's peculiar to be driving right beside the 10th and 11th having to be aware of the golfers hitting into you or behind you (when you finish 18). The starter was fantastic and helpful for not just rules but holes on the back that are blind tee shots. It's a fun course worth checking out, personally I don't love course designs that feature highly manufactured looking water features and such (Jack Nicklaus type designs)...that being said, our group enjoyed playing the course and would recommend it overall. Also seems like a great time to play now, there looks to be a ton of development happening in the area that in my opinion will hurt the views of just incredible land looking off towards Sand Hollow. Staff that greets you at your car on arrival and after your round were great. Friendly and helpful when talking about their own course and others in the area.

Very nice course, but actually pretty hard. Tons of sand traps, greens were rock hard, they rolled very fast, and there’s a decent amount of movement on several of them. Overall, not an easy course by any means. That said, very beautiful and well maintained. Staff was friendly. Very small pro shop, but that didn’t impact our experience.

Course is amazing, middle of July and fairways looked good and greens rolled true. Pretty impressive to do that in constant 110 degree weather. Staff were all very nice and accommodating of my late tee time. Highly recommend the drive to tee off at this course.
